Commissioner Reviews Public Grievances, Development Works and Welfare Schemes During Gonda Inspection Drive

Gonda: Commissioner of the Devipatan Division, Durga Shakti Nagpal conducted an extensive inspection and public outreach programme in Gonda, reviewing public grievance redressal, development projects, construction works and welfare initiatives. The visit also included participation in the district’s “Sandhya Samvad” programme, aimed at strengthening direct communication between citizens and the administration.

During a public hearing held at the district collectorate auditorium, the Commissioner, accompanied by District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan and senior officials, listened to complaints and grievances from residents. A total of 155 public complaints were addressed during the session, with several issues resolved on the spot. She directed officials to ensure transparent, timely and quality disposal of public grievances so that citizens do not face unnecessary hardships.

The Commissioner also reviewed issues related to serving government employees and pensioners. Several retired employees raised concerns regarding pending payments of General Provident Fund (GPF), pensions and other dues. Taking serious note of the matter, she instructed departmental heads to prioritise the clearance of all pending payments and ensure prompt resolution of such cases.

As part of the inspection programme, the Commissioner reviewed the progress and quality of various ongoing and recently completed development projects across the district. She inspected the construction of a 100-bed facility at the District Women’s Hospital and reviewed the ongoing road construction work on the Gonda–Ayodhya–Utraula route. Officials and executing agencies were directed to maintain high construction standards and deploy additional manpower wherever necessary to ensure completion of projects within the stipulated timelines.

Emphasising accountability, the Commissioner stated that infrastructure development and tourism-related projects play a crucial role in strengthening the region’s identity and creating employment opportunities. She instructed all concerned agencies to execute projects with efficiency and responsibility.

Later, she participated in the “Sandhya Samvad” programme held at Bhaghariya Gram Panchayat in Katra Bazar Block, where she interacted directly with villagers and local residents. Citizens presented various issues and demands, following which the Commissioner directed officials to ensure their swift and effective resolution.

The event also featured stalls set up by different government departments to create awareness about welfare schemes and facilitate access to public services. Several beneficiaries received assistance under state and central government programmes.

During the programme, the Commissioner distributed Ayushman Cards, handed over a cheque worth ₹32.50 lakh to 21 Self-Help Groups, distributed approval letters under the National Family Benefit Scheme, provided nutrition kits to pregnant women, handed over nutrition support packages to TB patients, and distributed keys under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) sanitation initiative. Meritorious students were also honoured for their academic achievements.

District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, Chief Development Officer Dayanand Prasad, JDC Rakesh Kumar Pandey, along with senior district officials and departmental representatives, were present during the programme.

The Commissioner’s visit underscored the administration’s focus on responsive governance, quality infrastructure development, and effective delivery of welfare benefits to citizens across the district.
